Audio Review : Bardaasht (2004)

Music: Himesh Reshammiya
Lyrics: Sameer
Singers: Alisha Chinoy, Alka Yagnik, Kunal Ganjawla, Shaan, Udit Narayan

After a fabulous score in Tere Naam, Himesh Reshammiya composed average music in Tum? and Run. Thankfully, he returns to form in E Nivas’s Bardaasht.

One highlight is that lyricist Sameer is in his element. On the Udit Narayan-Alka Yagnik duet Silsile Mulaqaton Ke, he writes: “Silsile mulaqaton ke na chodiyega, na chodiyega, naarazgi mein bhi taaluk na todiyega, na todiyega.” On the next number — a well-sung Shaan-Alka duet — he writes, “Aap ki khata aap ki bewafaayee, maaf karta hai dil, jaane kyon.”

Next, the mood shifts to Janaabe Ali, a qawwali-laced dance number sung smoothly by Shaan and Kunal Ganjawala. Dil Mera Dil Na Maane comes in two versions, sung expressively by Alka and Udit. On Na Na Na Na Re, the voices of Alisha Chinai and Ganjawala go perfectly with the mood.

Instrumental versions of Silsile Mulaqaton Ke and Aap Ki Khata drag the otherwise-likeable album.
