After the horror flick ‘Bhoot’ Ram Gopal Varma is back with another hair –raising tale ‘Darna Mana Hai’. This is an anthology of six scary stories joined by the central theme of fear. Ram Gopal Varma’s trusted lieutenant Praval Raman makes his debut with this scary tale. The men behind the scary music of ‘Bhoot’ Salim –Suleman composes music for this new Ram Gopal Varma horror movie.

This multi-starrer features Sanjay Kapoor, Shilpa Shetty, Saif Ali Khan, Vivek Oberoi, Nana Patekar, Aftab Shivdasani, Esha Deol, Sohail Khan, Antra Mali and Sameera Reddy.

The promotional video of ‘Darna Mana Hai’ might have scared you out of your wits. Now let us check out how the whole album fares.

Salim –Suleiman continues to scare you with the music. Look at the title track ‘Darna Mana Hai’. You might have seen this promotional song many a time in your television screen. This one features Sameera Reddy dancing in the middle of the jungle wearing a sexy dress. Sameera looks sexy the music too grabs our attention. Sunidhi Chauhan croons this version. Lalit Marathe is the lyricist.

‘Home work’ features Raghuvir Yadav teaching the students the multiplication of 2. He also joins the team of singers Aparna Jha, Clinton Cerejo and Vijay Prakash for the rendition of the song. This is a pop track written by Abbas Tyrewala. If you are fed up teaching your kid the multiplication try this song out.

Ram Gopal Varma always tries to be different from his contemporaries. He comes out with new themes, new ideas and unexpected pairings. He also encourages his crews in all departments to come out with novel ideas. Even his music composers enjoy the liberty to experiment. That is the reason why you see songs like ‘Home Work’ only in a Ram Gopal Varma movie.

Salim –Suleiman comes out with a unique romantic track titled ‘Stop’. Don’t blink this is the title of the song. Sonu Nigam and Sunidhi Chauhan sing this unconventional love song. Penned by Abbas Tyrewala this rock song has the lovers telling each other to move about according to their whims and fancies. A wonderful track!

Next song ‘Jo Dar Gaya Woh Mar Gaya’ is another speedy track featuring Meghna Reddy. This one is a build up on the theme of the movie. But it is totally different from the title track. Taabish Roman writes while Sunidhi, Naresh and Salim sing this one. This is not as effective as the title song. But still it fares well.
 
‘No Smoking’ is a preachy kind of talk about smoking. It is a very lengthy track and so it bores you to the core. Salim- Suleiman has come out with a unique musical composition. If Abbas Tyrewala had reduced the length of the song a bit, it would have been a better song.

The concluding track of this album is a remix ‘The Darna Mix’. It is a combination of all the tracks in this album. This one is a novel experiment from the music director duo Salim –Suleiman. Sunidhi, Ninad and Naresh Kamamt croon this one.

On the whole this album ‘Darna Mana Hai’ offers a new musical experience.  The music lovers will cherish this one for a long time. This is worth a buy.
