Movie Review : Dil Ne Phir Yaad Kiya

Producer: Mansoor Ahmad Siddiqui
Director: Rajat Rawa
Cast: Arshad Warsi, Govinda, Pooja Batra, Tabu
Music: Aadesh Shrivastava

Directed by Rajat Rawail ‘Dil Ne Phir Yaad Kiya’ is loosely inspired by Yash Chopra's ‘Doosra Aadmi’. Also there are resemblances to films like ‘Bombay To Goa’ and ‘Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge’ in bits and pieces.

Rahul Khanna (Vinay Anand) and Sonia Chopra (Pooja Batra) love each other and get married. Both of them come from rich family. Vinay opens an advertising firm in Delhi and to endorse a product he wants Roshni Batra (Tabu), the same model who has found success in the ad world sometime back. But no one knows about her whereabouts except Jackie Shroff. Vinay approaches Jackie but he doesn’t give him the details and warns him to stay away from her, as she is an eccentric woman. But anyhow wants Roshni to do the assignment and convinces Jackie for her address. He goes to Roshni with the offer and she agrees to it instantly because Vinay reflects Prem (Govinda) her past who is dead. Slowly she begins falling in love with him and gets very much obsessive with him. What happens next?

The flaw in the film lies in the fact that many scenes have been inspired from various films and so you get seen that been there feeling. Also the director has taken a lot of cinematic liberties. Vinay Anand and Pooja Batra romance doesn’t look convincing. The film has been promoted as a Govinda starrer but he has hardly any role in the film. Also there has been no elaboration on his character and no background is shown. Music (Adesh Shrivastava) is pleasant. Editing is shoddy. Dialogues are low grade. Cinematography is apt.

Vinay Anand seems to idolise Govinda. Tabu doesn’t suit the role of a model and her performance lacks soul. Pooja Batra is average. Govinda doesn’t get much to do and this will come as a disappointment for his fans.

‘Dil Ne Phir Yaad Kiya’ is total downer.
