Audio Review : Dil Ka Rishta - Nadeem-Shravan Sounds Monotonous

Producer: Aditya Rai, Shabbir Boxwala
Director: Naresh Malhotra
Cast: Aishwarya Rai, Arjun Rampal, Priyanshu Chatterjee
Music: Nadeem-Shravan
Singers: Alka Yagnik, Kumar Sanu, Udit Narayan, Babul Supriyo, Sarika Kapoor, Sapna Awasti, Jaspinder Narula

Aishwarya Rai turns producer with the movie ‘Dil Ka Rishta’.  This movie stars her along with Ajun Rampal, Priyanshu Chatterjee and Lisa Ray. Aishwarya’s mother Vrinda Rai polishes her writing skills with this home production. Naresh Malhotra is the director. Naadeem –Shravan scores music while Sameer writes the lyrics.

The ‘Raja Hindustani’ fame Sapna Awasti starts the proceeding with a qawali song ‘Saajan Saajan’. Alka Yagnik and Kumar Shanu join her in the mid way. This is a usual Nadeem- Shravan composition. Sameer’s lyrics are ok. All together this is a nice track. This album contains another version of this song. Jaspinder Nerula takes over from Alka and Sapna.

Alka and Kumar Shanu come together again for this number. ‘Haye Dil’ is a beautiful romantic melody. But once again there is nothing new in this song. Even the lyrics of Sameer follow the old trodden path. The vastly experienced singers Alka and Kumar Shanu with their easy rendition make this song a listenable track.

Next in line is the title track of the movie ‘Dil Ka Rishta’. Three experienced singers come together for the rendition of this song. And no doubt they sing very well. Nadeem –Shravan gets full credit for coming up with such a simple and haunting tune. For those who still want more of this song there is another version in the voice of Babul Supriyo and Sarika Kapoor.

‘Dayya Dayya Re’ is one of the most attractive musical compositions in this album. The presence of Aishwarya Rai adds to its popularity. Alka Yagnik’s voice lacks enthusiasm. But the catchy musical arrangements make it a nice track. Lyrics are also lack luster.

Kumar Sanu and Alka Yagnik team up for another celebration song ‘Dil Chura Liya’.  The passionate rendition of the senior singers adds grace to this song. Once again Sameer’s creativity fails him. Even then this soft and sweet romantic track impresses the music lovers.

The last two tracks in this album are too short to catch any attention. Udit Narayan croons the first one ‘Haste Suraj Ki’. This song has its base from the title song of this movie. Kumar Shanu sings the next shorty  ‘Kitne Majboor Ho Gaya’. There is nothing much to talk about these tracks.

It looks that the music director duo Nadeem- Shravan have come to the end of their creative ability. Nowadays they rely too much on their previous compositions for inspiration. This album is not different. The songs are nice, but they do not sound fresh. It is good for a single time listening.
