Audio Review : Gharshana

Music: Harris Jayaraj
Lyrics:
Singers:
KK, Suchitra, Bombay Jayashree, Harini, Srinivas, Sunitha Sarathy, Febimani, Tippu, Shalini Singh

A R Rehman has left his footsteps and following them is Harris Jayaraj. If you had dropped whatever you’re doing to listen to Rehman, you’re bound to do the same again while listening to Harris Jayaraj.

Gharshana is lovely to listen to, refreshingly devoid of the standard ingredients in most of the mainstream soundtracks. All of the songs have extremely lilting melodies, grabbing you instantly. This album would make for extremely soothing, easy listening. An upward swinging soundtrack in all aspect!

Leading the list of winners is the title track ‘Cheliya Cheliya’ with all the expected magic from KK and Suchitra. Pulsating beats, rhythm and techno feel are all the elements fitted in right proportions that makes it a hat trick at the first instance!

‘Andagaada’ is a mediocre track in the voices of Bombay Jayashree and Harini. The track is high on notes with a feel of punch throughout. But it fails to tug your heart.

One other refreshing element is ‘Ye Chilipi’ by Srinivas. The number is quite lovely with mellifluous rendition. Kulasekhar's lyrics with an interesting juncture of Hindi interludes, does make it catchy and entirely more different one.

Sunitha Sarathy of Yuva fame, steps in for ‘Aadatanama Choodatarama’. It’s hard to match up to the quality of her fine vocals. Febimani also looks as good as her. It’s an item number with passable lyrics and an average tune to sum it up!

Tippu and Shalini Singh’s vocals do ‘Nanne Nanne’ in the softest of tunes with an equal tint of voluptuousness. Harris Jayaraj has composed it with a lot of techno edge. The words are done with brilliance. It’s certainly addictive and one of the best tracks in movie.

There are two themes under the title Encounter and Theme of Gharshana in the album. This album is a keeper. Go ahead, treat yourself!
