Movie Review : Dum

Producer: Morani, Soorma
Director: E.Niwas
Cast: Vivek Oberoi, Diya Mirza, Atul Kulkarni, Mukesh Rishi, Harsh Chaya
Music: Sandeep Chowtha

After trying his hand and not been able to do much with comedy ‘Love Ke Liye Kuch Bhi Karega’, director E.Niwas returns back with a action drama ‘Dum’. The film has in the lead Vivek Oberoi, Diya Mirza and Atul Kulkarni, Sushant Singh are in the supporting cast.

‘Dum’ tells the story of a young and ambitious Uday (Vivek Oberoi). He aspires to become an honest police officer and serve his nation. But the road is not that easy as there are many obstacles and hurdles he will have to cross to reach his dream. He has to overcome a self-centered police officer Shankar, who is hungry to stay at the top. And there is lots of difference between the two. Shankar and Uday cross roads when Shankar riding ruthlessly gets into a brawl with Diya Mirza, Uday's girlfriend. He tries to play fowl with her and Uday avenges him. Shankar in fury tries to eliminate Uday as Uday struggles to become the honest cop.

‘Dum’ doesn’t work because the flaws work against the positives E. Niwas handles direction well and dialogues are fiery just apt to the criteria of the film. Action, choreography, and cinematography all pull along fine in sync with the film. Loaded with suspense and action, the first part calls for trumps. But the second part just drops the efforts. It slacks and slowly but surely you start feeling stressed. Sandeep Chowta’s music is fine. Vivek Oberoi handles the film on his shoulder and is first rate. Diya Mirza and Atul Kulkarni are good. Performance wise all do justice.

In spite of good performances and direction, stiff competition at the box office may ruin the fate of the film.
