‘Company’, a Ram Gopal Verma production takes on the life of underworld dons and their accomplices. Starring Ajay Devgan in the lead this movie paves the way for the debut of Vivek Oberoi, the son of talented actor Suresh Oberoi. Music director Sandeep Chawta comes up with some of the unique musical tracks for this album. Some of the songs have already made a place in the chartbuster list. Let us start with the best song of the album. The Asha Bhonsle, Sudesh Bhonsle and Sapna Awasti crooned ‘Khallas’ takes the lead position. Picturised on Isha Koppikar this song is hot all the way. Everything falls perfectly in place for this track. Lyrics by Nitin Raikwar go in sync with the mood of the song. So is the choreography. With its catchy beats and rhythm this song is going to make big in the music world.
Next song ‘Tum Se Kitna Pyaar Hai’ is an intense and passionate musical creation in the voice of Altaf Raja. This song sounds good in the unique voice of Altaf. Sandeep Chawta’s trendy music adds a new feel to this highly romantic number. Lyrics by Taabish Romani need a special mention. In short, this musical marvel is here to stay.
Unfortunately Sandeep Chawta falls into routine category with ‘Pyaar Pyaar Mein’. Lyrics too follow the same old tried and tested path. Babul Supriyo and Sonali Vajpai render this ordinary love number.
‘Aanhon Mein’ on the other hand takes you back to the musical extravaganza. This smooth flowing, slow track sounds like a song from a ghazal album. Piano and guitar are the only instruments used in the background. Sowmya Rao’s vocals just flows with this ghazal typed musical score. Taabish Romani enhances the feel of this romantic number with his amazing lyrical composition. It may not become a craze of the nation, but the lovers of quality music can chew upon this number over and over again.
‘Ganda Hai’ is the most innovative track of this album. Crooned by Sandeep Chawta himself this song talks about the ugly face of underworld and the life of the men there. Sandeep Sahni’s lyrics surprise you with its unconventional treatment. This heavy voiced rendition overpowers you with its techno beats and unusual crooning.
‘Shot of the Company’ is an instrumental piece that comes in as background music in the movie. This high sounding musical piece has the caliber to compete with any of the Hollywood background scores. The sound of gunshot that comes in between the song adds a kind of mysteriousness to this number.
‘Malik’s Soul’ on the other hand has nothing great to offer. Set in the same mode as other Ram Gopal Varma movie backgrounds, this song fails to tickle our imagination.
In short, the music of ‘Company’ has all the ingredients perfectly combined together to give that extra edge to this album. Most of the tracks in this collection are situational in character. Even then these numbers makes for repeated listening.
