Sudhir Mishra is generally hailed as the filmmaker of art house movie. But this time he goes for a different tale with ‘Calcutta Mail’ a thriller film with Anil Kapoor and Rani Mukherjee in the main lead.

The film narrates the story of Avinash (Anil Kapoor) who comes to Calcutta in search of his son. His trouble begins when he discovers that too many people are interested in him and is following him. He comes across many people like a clever politician (Satish Kaushik), a so-called loyal Inspector Rastogi (Sayaji Shinde), a funny guy (Sujan Singh), Ghatak (Saurabh Shukla).  He gets aware and doesn’t trust people around him. It is than that he meets Rima (Rani Mukherjee) a novelist. Her activities make him quite suspicious of her. He is in a dilemma now to understand if she is Rima or Bulbul. What is the real matter with the happenings and proceedings? Who is interested in killing Avinash and why?
