Audio Review : Uninspiring Musical scores

Producer: Lakshman Bhatia
Director: Sangeet Sivan
Cast: Zayed Khan, Esha Deol, Gulshan Grover, Vijay Raaz, Rakhi Sawant, Salil Ankola
Music: Himesh Reshammiyya
Lyrics: Sanjay Chhel, Jay Verma, Sudhakar Sharma

‘Chura Liya Hai Tumne’ features two star kids and the younger sibling of an ace cinematographer. Esha Deol, the daughter of gorgeous Hema Malini and the handsome Dharmendra is the female lead while Zayed Khan, the son of the Sanjay Khan makes his debut with this movie. Sangeeth Sivan, brother of ace cinematographer Santhosh Sivan, directs the movie.

Himesh Reshammiyya scores music. Sudhakar Sharma, Sanjay Chhel and Jay Verma are the lyricists. This album contains seven tracks including a remix and an instrumental version of another. Shaan gets the maximum number of songs.

First comes the title track of the movie ‘Chura Liya Hai Tumne’. Shan andAlka Yagnik croon this love song. The sound of flute makes the prelude of the song and is heard throughout the song. Himesh Reshammiyya follows the tried and tested formula here. This along with an uninspired picturisation makes this soft and melodious love track ordinary. So it fails to create any impact on the listeners.

Next song projects a different picture altogether. It is a love song picturised on two teenage lovers. They ask the innocent question ‘Don't You Love Me’. Once again Shaan and Alka team for this number. This song has an old world charm. So it goes well with the music lovers.

Then comes an item number in the typical Reshammiyya style. ‘Mohabbat Hai Mirchi’ sung by Shaan catch hold of you at the first listening itself. Shaan has modulated his voice to suit the style of the song. This foot tapping number leaves its effect on the listeners. Though it sounds similar to other Reshammiyya compositions it is an enjoyable track. This album features a remixed version of this song. But it is in no way superior to the original.

‘Boys are Best’ shows the usual fight between boys and girls in the campus for supremacy. You have seen this kind of songs from time immemorial. Remember the oldie ‘Ladke Hai Yeh Ladke’ and the Aamir Khan number from ‘Dil’ ‘Khambe jaisi Khadi hai’. ‘Boys are Best’ comes in the same category. Even the look and feel of the song is the same.

After the ‘jhadga vagda’ comes an instrumental piece ‘Love Theme’. This lackluster fails to inspire the music lovers.

The last song of this album is one of the worst compositions of this album. ‘Hey Am I Loving a Right Guy’ is a song that comes out from an indecisive mind. The lyrics and music sounds very common and boring. Udit Narayan and Mahalakshmi Aiyer sing this uninspiring track. It is sad that an established singer like Udit Narayan is wasted in this song.

On the whole there is nothing good to talk about this album. It is the most uninspiring album except the two tracks ‘Don’t You Love Me’ and ‘Mohabbat Hai Mirchi’. There is no harm in listening to it just once.
