Direction: Maharajan Music: Manisharma Cast: Ajith, Meera Jasmine, Raghuvaran, Anuhassan, Jaiprakash Reddy, 'Pyramid' Natarajan, 'Pepsi' Vijayan
Aanjaneya is in the midst of bad previews and this is not good news for Ajith. The story treads the same path of corruption and political crisis that dominates most of the films of recent times. Other than Ajith the film casts Meera Jasmine, Raghuvaran, Anuhassan, Jaiprakash Reddy, Natarajan, Vijayan.
Ajith transforms into a police officer for Aanjaneya, after playing a rowdy in Red. Paramaguru (Ajith) is aspiring to become an ACP. He stands against injustice and in one such incident he picks up a fight with Ramasamy ('Pepsi' Vijayan) and beats him black and blue. This bars his promotion. His alliance with Jaiprakash (Jaiprakash Reddy) who is quite influential though makes him take the measure he has been striving for. Divya (Meera Jasmine) appears as his fiancé and a little bit of romance between them gives you a kind of relief from the overdose of good vs. evil drama.
The movie fails in characterization and scenes. Both of it seem disorganized at places and hurdles the spontaneity of the film. Too much of action and bloodshed are good enough only for a selective audience. One after another the stunt sequences make their way and this at times makes it very boring to watch. The end is quite ironical and is impeding factor in the plot. There is a transformation spree when all the villains hearing the speech of Ajith turn to good souls. Hence a lot of illogical drama follows.
Ajith just doesn’t fit in the bill. His character has fault, as he doesn’t appear to do the needful as expected from a police officer. The inability to save the boy who witnesses the murders is the full proof to it. There is nothing interesting for him to perform except flexing his muscles for some grave action scenes. The villains appear, to be bashed up by Ajith turn by turn, that’s it! His body language repels and his performance is never whelming. Meera Jasmine doesn’t have much to do and appear only in few scenes, but she makes her presence felt. Jaiprakash Reddy appearance and performance is villainish and he executes well. Raghuvaran, Ramesh Khanna, Ilavarasu, Seetha and many such casts appear only in bits and pieces. Maharajan has not been competent enough and the movie jeopardizes at his hands.
