When everything related with Boom is unique, how can the music lag behind! Its understandable that Kaizad Gustad had been very certain with the kind of things he wanted for the movie. Apart from the story, style and treatment, the music too speaks of it. The music is very experimental and audacious and appears unlike Bollywood stuff. A combination of Talvin Singh, Sandeep Chowta, Panjabi MC, and D’Caro are the one who has designed the composition with a genuinely appreciable outcome.
The first track is the title track ‘Boom’ which also happens to be the last track of the album. It’s the composition of Talvin Singh to be sung by Ila Arun. Ila Arun has been roped in to deliver the gruff and husky fashion to the song. Talvin’s composition is incredible and for the most part keeps the listener going. The Lounge variety of music with lot of instruments and fused beats renders a soft impact on the song. The last track appears as ‘Dat Guy Remix’ and though is good, lacks the versatility of the former one. Both of them are awesome piece of music.
Talvin emerges again with ‘Zindabad’ by Ravi Singh, the Sukhwindra Singh alike, performs well. This time though the impact of the music is not as strong, as the composition fails half way. The symphony is weary and the Sufi touch doesn’t impress.
‘Seduction Saavariya’ is a one of a kind track by Sandeep Chowta. Sunitha Parthasarthy and Sonu Kakkar along with, go ahead to make it the best track. The track also belongs to the Lounge genre, and the traditional and the western instruments woos with a mesmerizing fusion. This is something to look forward to!
The vigor of Sandeep Chowta continues with three instrumentals, the subtlety of which lends you on a high note. All of them express his unrivaled command over music. ‘Dope The Pope’ the first one, is a foot tapping number with Sukhwindra Singh and Sowmya Raoh doing the needful. With the merge of hop, trance and techno, the track goes along to become a rare treat. ‘Two Dons and a Bitch’, the second one, is devoid of conventional style. This energetic and fun filled track is bestowed with Arabic fervor. The smooth flow of instruments with tangible beats makes it exquisite. ‘Ramp-Age’ the last of the three, is again a danceable track like the other two. Sowmya Raoh does some background vocals making it catchy as well different. The techno with the traditional makes it a lovely instrumental.
D’Caro takes his turn with ‘Nuttin Happen’ a light and humor filled track. The use of interesting percussion and the rap by Rare Form and D’Caro goes along fine.
Another one from D’Caro is ‘It´s Safe’, an instrumental. This momentum-punched track is an amalgamation of trance, lively percussion and an impressive riff. This is an outstanding piece.
Follows another remarkable instrumental’ Bhavani Dayani’ by Jez Humble. The use of instruments with veracity makes up this vivacious track. This will really make you feel the difference!
Some desi stuff takes over. ‘Mundian To Bach Ke’ by Panjabi MC is a conventional Punjabi track. This track had already made its mark in parts of North America when it was released there some years back, this time it’s out here for the Indian audience. The good news is that the song hasn’t lost its charm and keep you going!
Another piece of funky track appears with ‘Nachna Tere Naal’ by Rishi Rich featuring Jay Sean and Juggy D. The track is imbibed with a disco-bhangra feel with a merge of English lyrics. The track is a triumph and will set you to it as soon as you hear.
‘I See You Baby’ is a retouch by D´Caro to Groove Armada’s I See You Baby (Shakin´ That Ass). Punjabi lyrics and tone makes it sound absolutely different this time. Another dancing track to your favour.
‘Punjabi 5-0’ by Dum Dum Project featuring 1shanti is also a disco styled Punjabi track. The rap as well the funky beats of the instruments makes it a good piece.
With the combination of western and Indian tracks, Boom makes it for a difference. Its all the good things happening in one single album with synchronized melody and variable tunes. This one doesn’t deserve a damn miss!
