The Lal Jose-directed Pattaalam, produced by Subair and Sudhish under the banner of Moviekshetra, is getting ready at a fast pace. The film tells the story of some very interesting happenings that occur in a little village called Ponnarimangalam. The village gets caught in communal strife and related riots and the army has to be sent to restore peace there. It is Captain Pattaabhiraman who leads the unit of army sent to the village. How the arrival of the army affects life in Ponnarimangalam, told with an undercurrent of humour, forms the plot of Pattaalam, in which Mammootty plays Captain Pattaabhiraman, with Jyothirmayi and Tessa playing the female lead characters. Tessa is very much familiar to television viewers as the anchor of Hello Good Evening on Kairali TV. Also in the cast are Jagathy Sreekumar, Innocent, Biju Menon, Saikumar, Oduvil Unnikrishnan, Salim Kumar, Capt. Raju, Indrajit, Idavela Babu, Sudheesh, James, Indrans, Maala Aravindan, Zeenath, Priyanka etc. Debutante Reji Nair pens the script for Pattaalam, which features lyrics by Gireesh Puthencherry, music by Vidyasagar, cinematography by S.Kumar, art-direction by Joseph Nellickal and editing by Renjan Abraham. The film will be brought to the theatres by Kalasangham, Varnachitra and Khas Release.
