Audio Review : Originality always triumphs

Music: Anu Malik
Lyrics: Javed Akhtar
Singers: Sonu Nigam, Roop Kumar Rathod, Hariharan, Alka Yagnik, Sonali Rathod, Shankar Mahadevan

Anu Malik proves his potential strength of being invariably the best music director reining the Bollywood scenario. He stretches himself and outshines his brilliance. The zeal and the fervor with which he had composed the music of Border, speaks for itself. The melody, Javed Akhtar’s soul touching lyrics and the composition are awesome in all respect. The genuine use of instruments, the originality and infuse of melody in all the tracks are brilliant.

The album takes off with ‘Ke Ghar Kab Aaoge’, a soulful, stunning song in the ideal and wonderful voices of Sonu Nigam and Roop Kumar Rathod. Their vocal geniuses take the already beautiful song a step further. A courtesy to Javed Akhtar for making the song remarkable with his lyrics. The track is expansive and lengthy, but you never wish it to end.

Hariharan takes over with ‘Mere Dushman Mere Bhai’. Javed Akhtar deals with the brotherhood theme in the Indo-Pak relation. The feelings seize you with some real thoughts. Hariharan makes the track impeccable. Anu Malik does a reasonably good work with the composition though it doesn’t weave magic. The length of the song is also a negative aspect.

A love ballad is ‘Hamen Jab Se Mohobaat’, which is scintillating with classical feel and the voices of Sonu Nigam and Alka Yagnik. The rhythm, lyrics and the exquisite rendition makes it a cherishable track. The slow and serene track just takes over you. It’s far from the reach of conventionalism, and is one of the most memorable love songs in the days to come.

‘To Chalun’ is a situational track by Roop Kumar Rathod based on a post-wedding night sequence when a soldier has to leave for war. Javed Akhtar’s lyrics squeeze the song with an overdose of feelings and Anu Malik ought to have done something more to the composition. Only the cadence of Rathod shines.

‘Hindustan Hindustan’ is a patriotic song, with right balance of emotion and vocal touch by Sonali Rathod and Shankar Mahadevan. Mahadevan vocals really take the song at par. Kulbhushan Kharbanda recites some lines making the song an outstanding one. Javed Akhtar and Anu Malik do an impressing job.

Border as a whole is a rare treat from the closet of Anu Malik. The creative collaboration between him, Javed Akhtar and J.P. Dutta for once and all has given a brilliant outcome. Border’s music is eternal and the goodwill just triumphs.
