Audio Review : Bas Itna Sa Khwaab Hai - Music Disappoints

Producer: Rose Movies
Director: Goldie Behl
Cast: Abhishek Bachchan, Sushmita Sen, Rani Mukherji, Jackie Shroff
Music: Aadesh Shrivastava
Singers: Alka Yagnik, Roop Kumar Rathod,  Hema Sardesai, Shaan,  Sonu Nigam

Inspired by the Micheal Douglas and Charlie Sheen starrer ‘Wall Street’ this Goldie Behl movie star Abhishek Bachan, Rani Mukherjee, Sushmita Sen and Jackie Shroeff in the lead. Adesh Shrivastava is the music director. Lyrics are by Nida Fazli, Dev Kohli and Goldie Behl, this album offers eight songs.

The album opens up with a fusion number ‘Chota Sa Mann Hai’. Alka Yagnik, KK and Roop Kumar Rathod hold the mike for this number. Its music sounds like a blend of Sting’s ‘A Thousand Years’ and an old Rajkumar song ‘Yeh Khoobsoorat Badan’. Adesh Shrivastava mixes these two and comes up with his own number.

‘Dil Nasheen’ is a youthful number stuffed with some nice rhythmic beats and a cool Arabian acoustics. Rendered by Sukhwinder Singh and Shaan this fusion of Indian and Western music is definitely going to impress the young music lovers.

Next song ‘Ganga Maiyya’ has nothing much to rave about. Sonu Nigam drowsily walks through this song.
Just after this song the quality of the tracks goes for a toss. ‘Jhoomein Yeh Zameen Jhoomein’ crooned by Roop Kumar Rathod has nothing to talk home about. Like its predecessor this too sounds familiar and repetitive.

The high- spirited renditon of Alka and Shaan give ‘Kuch Aisa Jahan’ an edge over the rest of the songs in this album. The music reminds you of the oldie ‘Tere Bina’ from the movie ‘Ghar’. But even then the beats and rhythm gel well with the song. And as a result this song makes for a good hear.

The same pair teams up again for ‘Kya Hua’. But their rendition fails to make any impact on this dull and drowsy number. Written by Goldie Behl this track lacks in freshness and enthusiasm.

But fortunately, this album ends with a breezy and brisk romantic number ‘Yeh Hawaien’. Its melodious musical arrangement along with the soothing vocals of Alka and Shaan give it an ear friendly feel.

To sum up, this album has nothing much to boast about. Except ‘Yeh Hawaien’ and ‘Kuch Aisa Jahan’ none of the tracks have comes out really well.
