Debutant Munna (nephew of Jayabharathi) is the hero.
The story is about two Namboothiri families where Gauri (Kavya) and Sankaran (Munna) are childhood friends. When they grow up love blossoms between the two. Sankaran comes back from US where he is a doctor. With the blessing of their parents the lovers get married. Sankaran’s ‘tharavad’ is very ancient and orthodox and they pray to the ‘nagas’ always. The people in his family believe that Nagayakshi and Nagarajavu are present in the ‘tharavad’ and the elders decide that the couple should not live together to avoid the curse of ‘nagas’! How the lovers get united forms the rest of the story.
