‘Albela’ is one of the unique and unusual films to come across. Why? Though it is a Hindi commercial potboiler it is sans fights, violence and melodrama. Set in the milieu of Goa the film is about Tony (Govinda) a full of life tourist guide who enjoys everything and every day that he comes across in life. But his life changes after an astrologer tells him that soon a light-eyed princess will come in his life and change him forever. And the prediction surely comes true when he comes across Sonia (Aishwarya Rai) at the airport. She has come from abroad and has light eyes and Tony starts believing that she is the girl about whom the astrologer has mentioned and appoints himself as her tourist guide. 

But Sonia is not in Goa for a vacation but to search her mother's grave. Tony escorts her around the town to help her find that. But this brings displeasure to Nina (Namrata Shirodker) his childhood friend who loves him very much. But Tony has fallen in love with Sonia and she is unaware of it. She comes upon an article written on Tony by a journalist named Prem (Jackie Shroff). She is taken aback and asks Tony to meet Prem. This follows with a twist and turn in the plot.
