Audio Review : Albela - Sounds uninspiring

Producer: Tips Films (P) Ltd.
Director: Deepak Sareen
Cast: Govinda, Aishwarya Rai
Music: Jatin-Lalit
Singers: Alka Yagnik, Kumar Sanu, Udit Narayan, Hariharan, Babul Supriyo, Sonu Nigam

For the first time Aishwarya Rai and Govinda come together onscreen for Deepak Sareen’s ‘Albela’. Deepak Sareen has been a TV star before and turns director with this film. Jatin-Lalit is at the helm of affairs to compose music for the film. They have composed simple tunes that sound uninspiring. The songs are easy on the ears and sounds nice with no complex rhythms or much instrumentation. But the expectation from of Aishwarya and Govinda starrer is generally sky-high and this is where it disappoints.

The album begins with the song ‘Pyar ka jadoo’ by Udit Narayan and Alka Yagnik. The song is a typical Jatin-Lalit score and even sounds like the rehash of their earlier film ‘Yes Boss’. It is a pleasant song that has an instrumental version also.

Nest song ‘Sar se sarak gayee’ is sung by Alka Yagnik and Babul Supriyo. Both of them glide through the song with ease that is infused with jhankar and drum beats sounding more like a Himesh Reshmmiya number. But it’s sweet appeal remains with you.

‘Kaho to zara’ starts well and catches your ears from the very beginning itself. Kumar Sanu and Alka Yagnik are in good form and the track reflects that. The song will surely rise in popularity charts.

'Dil hamara hua hai' is the best song in the album. It’s a ghazal like song rendered with aplomb by Hariharan and ably supported by Alka Yagnik.

A peppy song sung by Sonu Nigam ‘Hato tum baju’ is lively and the percussion makes it quite an enjoyable number.

The other two songs ‘Hai mera dil’ by Alka and Babul Supriyo, and ‘Haiya hoo kya masti’ by Alka, Kumar Sanu and Udit Narayan are nothing much to write about.

Jatin-Lalit isn’t in their best form and it reflects in the music. One of the eminently forgettable album coming out from them.
