A star son is to be launched again. It’s Arya Babbar this time, the son of Raj Babbar. There is another promising newcomer along with him, Amrita Rao. With fresh faces on the screen, lots of challenges involve to make the film likeable and the actors welcoming. Music obviously plays one of the major roles. Raj Babbar has the least to worry in this regard as Anu Malik and Sameer are taking care of it and they have come out with a good album.
As the film is predictably a love story, there are loads of love songs. To start with ‘Pyaar Mohabbat’ is a mediocre track with right use of vocals by Udit Narayan and Anuradha Paudwal. Though the composition is a bit loud yet the interesting mix of instruments retains its pleasure. The song shivers for the clichéd tune used in it. There is a repeat of this song by Sonu Nigam and Anuradha Paudwal in a sadder version which is just passable.
But the next track that arrives ‘Deewane aate jaate’ washes away the blemishes of the former track. This is a melodious song sung well by Sonu Nigam and Alka Yagnik. Kunal Ganjawala impresses with the small part of the song that he deals with. The composition is fine and it will go a long way.
Follows another likeable track ‘Saari umar main rahun athra saal’ sung by Sonu Nigam. The song may sound like a rehash of many such songs of yester years, but the punch and zeal will make you enjoy it and appreciate it.
The thump of the former track continues with ‘Aaya mahi’ too. The base of the song is a Punjabi folk tune and the voices of Sukhwinder Singh, Richa Sharma and Sunidhi Chauhan make it a likeable one. It’s pleasing to hear and will also mark its way to be a good dance number too.
Adding to the charm enters Adnan Sami with a delightful song ‘Mujhe rab se pyar hai’. Anuradha Sriram accompanies him and does a fair job. Anu Malik has infused Arabic tune in the composition which adds to the songs uniqueness. The song goes ahead to be another boogie number.
The next two tracks though don’t sound too promising. ‘Main Pyaar Mein Hoon’ with Shaan and Anuradha Paudwal falls flat and so does ‘Hoga Hoga’ a peppy song by Sonu and Preeti Pinky.
An unfamiliar blend is ‘Awaara Dil - Club Remix’ with non-stop beats highlighting t.he bits and pieces of all the songs in the album. With this track the album wraps up on a pleasing note.
Ab Ke Baras is a mix bag of good and average numbers. The songs should find a place and the good will of the movie will further add to its valor.
