Vijay is a story about various characters that are bound by relationships of love and friendship. How they become foes and take up weapons against each other.

When Arjun (Anil Kapoor) and Vicky (Rishi Kapoor) meet, they are oblivious to the fact that they are cousin brothers. They meet as friends until one day the truth dawns that the person behind the humiliation and destruction of Arjun's mother is their Grandfather Lala Yoddhraj (Anupam Kher).

The battle lines are drawn between Arjun & Vicky as well as their respective families. Vicky is unaware of the mental torture and humiliation his grandfather had subjected to Arjun's mother and how despite Arjun being the true their to Lala Yoddhraj's business empire he is made to live a life of a poor adopted child.

How Arjun wins the battle against all odds and wins back the support of his family by exposing the selfish actions of his grandfather is what Vijay is about.
