Audio Review : A revolution in the making

Producer: Gulshan Kumar
Director: Mahesh Bhatt
Cast: Rahul Roy, Anu Agarwal
Music: Nadeem-Shravan
Lyrics: Sameer, Rani Mallik, Madan Paal
Singers: Kumar Sanu, Anuradha Paudwal, Udit Narayan

Aashiqui launched Nadeem-Shravan and Kumar Sanu to stardom. The album was released under T-Series audio rights and climbed to the summit. The super success of the film also paved the way to make the music go a long way and make it a memorable one in the minds of music lovers. What more could compliment it than the thirteen awards it won to its credit. Other than the newcomer composer and singers like Kumar Sanu, Anuradha Paudwal, Udit Narayan who made a major contribution, the lyricists Sameer, Rani Mallik, Madan Paal were influential too.

The first track is the popular romantic number ‘Jaane Jigar Janeman’. The song is excellent in terms of the singing, composition and also the lyrics. The song re-appears again later.

‘Main Duniya Bhula Doonga’ was also a hit with Kumar Sanu and Anuradha Paudwal doing a splendid job with their vocals. The music is laced with the symphony of beautiful tune and orchestra work. The lyrics go along to adorn it superbly.

The title track ‘Bas Ek Sanam Chahiye’ is another sweet-toothed romantic number that is excellent in itself. The singers Kumar Sanu and Anuradha Paudwal deserve applaud here. Sameer and Nadeem-Shravan make their presence felt in wide spectrum.

You’re still not able to recover from the enigma of the previous track when ‘Nazar Ki Samne’ by Kumar Sanu and Anuradha Paudwal appears. This breezed song is somewhat slow in pace but rich in orchestra and lyrics. Sameer contends and so does Nadeem-Shravan.

So much of romance does sprain you. But here you won’t mind the hang over and would rather want to flow with it due the splendor you’re treated with. ‘Dheere Dheere Se Meri Zindagi Mein Aana’ is a perfect dedication to your loved one. The composition sounds unusual with a techno feel to it. The singers Kumar Sanu and Anuradha Paudwal do a decent job and so does lyricist Rani Mallik.

For a difference arrives Udit Narayan with ‘Mera Dil Tere Liye’. The song along with the tune, singing and lyrics is good enough but falls short in comparison to the previous tracks.

Next is a slow and sad number ‘Tu Meri Zindagi Hai’ that appears to be ghazal style track. Kumar Sanu and Anuradha Paudwal do their beautiful part though Kumar Sanu figures out better.

Then there are two more songs in solo version by Kumar Sanu, ‘Dil Ka Alaam’ and ‘Ab Tere Bin Jee Lenge Hum’ which are good ones though they’re not uprightly musical gems as some previous songs of the album.

When all the tracks are embellished with good tunes, meaningful lyrics and versatile and styled singing, it becomes a tough job to pick the best one amongst them. And why would we do it when the album as a whole feature as the best of the picks. Get one to get dipped into it!
