This movie is a bollywood adaptation of the famous Nicholas Cage, Sean Connery action flick ‘The Rock’. Directed by Harry Baweja this movie star Ajay Devgan, Sunil Shetty and Ashish Chowdhary. 90’s famous music director- lyricist jodi Nadeem-Shravan and Sameer come together for music.
If the opening track is an indication of the songs in this album then there is no chance for a complaint. ‘Woh Ladki Bahut Yaad Aati Hai’ is a nice romantic track. Here Ajay Devgan is thinking about his lost love. Music, though familiar, is melodious and hummable. Kumar Shanu and Alka Yagnik croon this. A sad version of the same song is also included in this album. Sad one sounds more attractive.
Second track ‘Dil Chura Liya’ is an ordinary track in the voice of Abhijeet and Kavita Krishanmurthy. There is nothing more to say about this average love track.
‘Aitbar Na Karna’ is about love that hurts. Music is plain ordinary. But Sameer’s lyrics provide it with a new lease of life. It has a longer life compared to the other songs in this album.
‘Mujhe Tumse Mohabbat Hai’ is in the line of ‘Chupana Bhi Nahi Aata’ from Baazigar. Kumar Shanu teams up with Mahalakshmi for this track. Sameer’s lyrics effectively express the protagonist’s inability to express their love for each other. Music is also in sync with the mood of the song. On the whole a fine track to hum around.
Next track ‘Yaar Pyaar’ is an okay track. Abhijeet and Alisha sing this song. Unlike her usual style Alisha croons this in a restrained manner. As a result of this ‘Yaar Pyaar’ fails to inflame the hearts of the listeners. Overall this sensuous track lacks the punch and feel that is usually associated with these kinds of songs.
Now it is the turn of another duet. This time Shaaan and Mahalakshmi team up for this track. ‘Mera Dil Tu Le Le’ is a peppy bhangra track that entertains you as long as it is there.
The best of the pack is the last song ‘Qayamat’. This title track featuring Isha Kopikar rocks. Add to the impact of the song is the westernized musical arrangement from Ranjit Barrot. With a nice choreography and excellent picturisation this song will definitely hit the top ladder.
On the whole this album turns out to be an average affair.
