Movie Review : One 2 Ka 4 (2001)

Producer: Nazir Ahmed
Director: Shashilal Nair
Cast: Shah Rukh Khan, Jackie Shroff, Juhi Chawla, Nirmal Pandey
Music: A.R. Rahman

So her we are at another usual week with more of those stale, forgotten and undernourished movies. After a thriller Chuppa Rustam last week we have another fast aced movie as this weeks release, the saving face being that the film boasts of class ‘A’ star-cast and is a total entertainer.

What prevents this film from falling on all fours is the good patch-up job done by the entire team. The film, which was already shot, was improved during dubbing, editing and fresh cinematography. Minor mistakes can be detected as the children in the film have even up by four years and obviously it shows.that's a lot of difference for four kids.

The story of the film may seem fimlar to that of Hum Hai Rahi Paar Ke, but with few vital changes and twists. Hence you have Arun (Shah Rukh) and Javed (Jackie) who are cops from the special squad of Mumbai police. Javed, a widower, has four children (commissioners should start a course on amily planning) who hate Arun. When Javed is killed in a mission, Arun and his wannabe music director friend (Dilip Joshi) unsuccessfully try to make the kids happy.

That is when Geeta (Juhi) steps in with a delightful Haryanvi accent mouthing, "Kapil Dev ki kasam," and going into bouts of brouhaha about love, sex and the works. They fall in love and everything is fine till Arun sees Geeta dancing in druglord KKV's (Nirmal Pandey) club. Shah Rukh is in a very different role from what he has been playing before. Juhi is terrific. S Kumar's camerawork and Hussain Burmawala's (brother of Abbas-Mustan) editing deserve praise.

Shashilal Nair has proved that he can make a funny film too if need be. A thorough timepass for the kids - but the parents should clog the kids' aural organs when Juhi goes berserk.

The film is a total time-pass and a good treat for the kids with vacation in the offing. The film is worth a dekho, but not without yur young brats in tow.
