A. R. Rahman comes back with the score of ‘One 2 Ka 4’ after 'Pukar' and 'Zubeida'. Giving a glimpse into his insight into music it is amazing to take a note that the music of all the three films are so different from each other. However though his former films had captivating music, his compositions here doesn't showcase him being genius. The scores for this film are Bollywood type that doesn’t offer anything different. The best track of the album happens to be 'Khamoshiyan gungunane lagi' rendered beautifully by Lata Mangeshkar and Sonu Nigam. After 'Jiya jale' from 'Dil Se' Rahman once again lends the reins of a beautiful number to Lata Mangeshkar, who stays up to his expectations beyond measure. Also this is for the first time she comes together with Sonu and the outing is just amazing. Mehboob does the lyrics and he impresses with his sheer poetry. The song again repeats in another version.
Another melodious number succeeds with 'Sone nahin na sahi', by Alka Yagnik and Udit Narayan. Good music and lovely music make it pleasurable listening. The singers do the rendition with ease and the result is another ear catching music in a row.
'I am sorry' by Udit Narayan, Srinivas and Poonam Bhatia appears like a situational number. It is a typical Rahman composition. From Latino guitars to their electric counterparts are used in the song. However the effect is nothing amazing.
Sung by Clinton the theme track 'One 2 ka 4' once again restores your faith in the album. It is an energetic and fast-paced number and Clinton’s rendition embellish it with life. Sounds of tabla and dholak begin the album soon giving way to synthesized sounds and electronic beat. Rahman composes a good score though it’s not anywhere near his best compositions.
A duet with Rageshwari and Sonu Nigam 'Osaka Muraiya' is up next. This is for the first time Rageshwari is heard singing for Rahman. But it’s hard to decipher the meaning of 'Osaka Muraiya'. Any guesses!
Sukhwindra Singh and Shaan get together for the fun filled score 'Allay, allay'. Good music and nice flute piece are the high points of the track.
Alka Yagnik and Sonu Nigam sound almost retro with the track 'Haye dil ki baazi laga', by Alka Yagnik and Sonu Nigam with the archetypical track. An excellent sarangi work by Ustad Sultan Khan makes it a notable number.
For the ones expecting to hear something amazing from the kitty of A. R. Rahman are going to get sourly disappointed. Here are a bunch of songs that are typical Bollywood numbers without offering anything novel.
