Movie Review : Aap Mujhe Achche Lagne Lage

Producer: Rohit Kumar
Director: Vikram Bhatt
Cast: Amisha Patel, Hrithik Roshan
Music: Rajesh Roshan

‘Aap Mujhe Achche Lagne Lage’ directed by Vikram Bhatt is one of the most awaited films of the season. The film brings the team of lead pair Hrithik Roshan and Amisha Patel together for the second time along with composer Rajesh Roshan who teams with them again after ‘Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai’. Let’s check out if they are able to recreate the magic of their debut blockbuster.

It is disheartening to say that the film doesn’t go anywhere closer to KNPH. With an age old script the efforts of all associated to the film is only on a downing string. It is another hogged love story where the lovers face opposition from their parents something that has been attempted umpteen times before on the screen.

‘Aap Mujhe Achche Lagne Lage’ is a romantic saga of Sapna (Amisha Patel) and Rohit (Hrithik Roshan). Sapna is like a bird wanting to break free from the cage. She is refined to the house in the custody of her father Dholakia a business tycoon, and hotheaded brother Raman. He has also arranged escorts for her. She comes across Rohit (Hrithik Roshan) during the nine days of 'dandiya raas'. These nine days becomes the best phase of her life when she discovers life and love that infuses in her the zeal to live life fully. Sapna and Rohit eventually fall in love but what lies ahead of them they are not even aware of. With truth, sacrifice and devotion they triumph their love.

Director Vikram Bhatt tries to make this old story appear new by giving it a fresh treatment. After a good start the film drops due to inconsistent pace. It is truly nerving to watch the slow romance. But with the dramatic second half things get back to the track again. However a little while later the film looses focus and turns very mediocre. Tasteful execution saves the end of the film. The film comes out a bit better owing to Vikram Bhatt who somehow steers through this hackneyed story with good execution.

Rajesh Roshan fails to make his music speak and unlike KHPH this one fails to strike an impact. Choreography is good. Pravin Bhatt's cinematography is brilliant. Action scenes by Abbas Ali Moghul are captivating. Special effects are shoddy

Hrithik Roshan puts his sincere efforts and tries to give his best to this ordinary film. Amisha Patel is loud at times but overall is fine. Kiran Kumar and Mukesh Tiwari excel.

This is not one of those enjoyable and entertaining films that would repay back the value of your ticket. There is lack of hype and curiosity for the film and this will detriment the business.
