Sooraj Barjatya is back with his fourth movie ‘Main Prem Ki Deewani Hoon’. He is the man who gave us musical hits like ‘Hum Aapke Hai Kaun’ and ‘Maine Pyar Kiya’ before. But his last musical outing ‘Hum Saath Saath Hai’ turned to be a failure. So this time he has changed his music director Ram Lakshman who did music for ‘Hum Saath Saath Hai’ to Anu Malik.
‘Main Prem Ki Deewani Hoon’ is rumored to be a remake of Rajashri’s Amol Palekar, Zareena Wahab, Vijayendra Ghatke starrer ‘Chit chor’. The song ‘Gori Tera Gaon Bada Pyaara’ is from this movie. Sooraj hopes to recreate the same magic with a new bunch of actors Abhishek, Hrithik and Kareena. Famous South Indian playback singer Chitra gets to sing most of the songs in this movie. Other singers include Sunidhi Chauhan, KK and Shaan.
Now let us go to music. The album begins with ‘Teri Zindagi Mein Chali Aayi Chali Aayi’ crooned by Chitra and KK. Like all Chitra songs this one is also a high-pitched track. Music is novel and original. With an innovative picturisation and effortless singing this song stakes its claim for a higher position in today’s chartbuster list.
The subsequent track ‘O Ajanabi’ is another extreme. It has a nice ear friendly music. Chitra and KK team up for this track again. There is a sad version of this song. Music remains same for both. The mournful lyrics of the second version make you sad. A nice work from Dev Kohli Saab.
‘Ladka Yeh Ladki’ is a nice captivating composition. KK impresses with his hearty rendition. This is one of the best songs in this album.
Chitra’s voice perfectly suits this Gujarati Dandiya track ‘Bani Bani Bani’. She with her shrill voice adds certain folksiness to this track. All together a nice track in the end.
In ‘Sanjana I love you’ a boy professes his love for a girl named Sanjana. KK’s vibrant rendition gives this fast moving track added zing. Music is very trendy and has the potential to be a trendsetter.
Next track ‘Bhatke Panchi’ is a slow classical based song. Chitra croons this situational sad track. Her voice effectively emotes the pain of the person who is lost in love. But this lengthy track bores a bit in the end. Otherwise a nice and enjoyable track that falls softly on ears.
Now it is the turn of two romantic tracks ‘Kasam Se’ and ‘Aur Mohabbat Hai’. Chitra and Shaan croon the first one while the second track is a solo by Shaan. Music is simple and attractive. Both these romantic songs speak about the celebrations of love.
‘Papa Ki Pari’ is a contemporary track picturised on Kareena Kapoor. Sunidhi Chauhan croons this light and simple song. This one caters to the tastes of college going youths.
On the whole this album is a nice and unique effort by Anu Malik and Suraj Barjatya. It will definitely find a place in the hearts of the music lovers.
