Set in Shimla, Mujhse Dosti Karoge revolves around three vivacious youngsters - Raj, Pooja and Tina (Hrithik Roshan, Rani Mukherji, Kareena Kapoor). Raj likes Tina and asks her to mail him when he shifts to London with his parents (Kiran Kumar and Smita Jayakar). Tina reluctantly agrees but doesn’t send any mails. Pooja who likes Raj sends mails but because Raj asked for Tina she writes them in Tina’s name to make Raj happy.

Time flies by and Raj (Hrithik Roshan) comes to India. He meets Pooja (Rani Mukherji) the plain jane and Tina (Kareena Kapoor) the vivacious beauty. He assumes it is Tina who has written the mails and as he is already in love with her he admits his love to her. Pooja gets sidelined but she doesn’t say anything. The families soon plan for the wedding.

When Raj goes back to London followed by Pooja for further studies, Raj incidentally learns that it was Pooja who had written those mails and he had fallen in love with her. He wants to marry Pooja but she doesn’t want to hurt Tina. Yet after arguments she agrees. When they return to Shimla, they find a grieving Tina as her father (Sachin Khedekar) passes away. Now they are in a dilemma and do not reveal the truth to Tina who is happy to be married to Raj. Pooja wants to sacrifice love for her friend. Raj too relents but on the condition that Pooja too marries elsewhere or he will leave. What happens next?
