‘Mujhse Shaadi Karoge’ is another romantic movie from the house of Chopras. After the success of ‘Mujhse Shaadi Karoge’ Yash Chopra continues to experiment with his director and music composer. This brings the renowned film critic Kunal Kohli behind the camera. Debutant Rahul Sharma is in charge of musical department. Lyrics are safe in the hands of veteran lyricist Anand Bakshi. This unusal love story stars Hrithik Roshan, Rani Mukherjee, Kareena Kapoor and Uday Chopra.
Unlike last time the music gets better here. ‘Jaane Dil Mein’ brings alive the nostalgic feel of old Yash Chopra melodies. Lata Mangeshkar whom we missed desperately in Chopra’s other album comes to fore with this romantic melody. Sonu Nigam gives her company. With Lataji around, Sonu puts in extra efforts to match his vocals with her’s. As a result he sounds more mature and subdued. A sad version of the same number with the same singers comes later in the album. This one too sounds well.
‘Andekhi Anjaani’ follows this number. With its heartwarming music and beautiful picturisation this song holds place in the music lover’s heart. Lata Mangeshkar renders this song along with Udit Narayan. Fortunately everything goes fine for this track. A superb composition.
‘Sawali Si Ladki’ is a soft and sweet musical number. Udit Narayan croons this in his usual emotive way. Music is common. Lyrics are poetic. There is nothing extra ordinary about this song. But yet it hooks you with its slow, melodious music.
This Hinglish track ‘Oh My Darling’ features Kareena and Hrithik. The song goes well with the stylish and yuppie image of these stars. It may become a craze of the campus in days to come.
An instrumental piece ‘Terrific Teena’ comes at the end of this album. This trendy and pacy instrumental works as an introduction to the modern and stylish Teena.
Then Lataji, Udit Narayan, Sonu Nigam and Pamela Chopra come up with a rehash of some of the old popular numbers. Even though this musical medley takes a considerable amount of our time we don’t get bored or sleepy.
This feel good album concludes with the title track crooned by Asha Bhonsle, Alka Yagnik and Udit Narayan. This is a fine track that demands a repeated listening. This intriguing musical is composed in Yash Chopra’s very own style. Like all Yash Chopra tracks this one too is melodious, intriguing and exiting.
Fortunately Yash Chopra gets his music right with this album. Musically this album stands above ‘Mohabbatein’. The young music director needs a pat on the back for his wonderful musical efforts. This one may have people queuing up for a copy. So go fast and get your copy first.
