A laughable tale, the story begins with Mike Phillippose (mammootty) who arrives from a small place and is a rustic to the core. He happens to be the kidney donor for the famous astrophysicist Menon (sasikumar) who has been in the US most of his life and has given up all hopes in living. Mike is known for his loud voice and is brash honesty but then he always has a point in what he says and touches the hearts of those in the flats. There are few characters like an old man (janardhanan) who has issues with his children, a couple (reghu, kalpana) that always fights, a brat kid who indulges in mischief. However, with the arrival of Mike, things change and what message he sends across forms the essence of the story.
The director has come up with a good theme and though the narrative faltered in few places, the presentation has been good. The dialogues were witty and intelligent, the script was neat, the screenplay was upto the mark. Music and songs contributed in their own way but the picturization was not impressive. Cinematography was good, editing was required at many places. Costumes and art department were natural and made their presence felt. Mammootty came up with yet another riveting performance and his new look impresses, Gracy Singh was gracious, Sasikumar was a real showstealer with his controlled performance, Jagathy could have been better, Salimkumar was alright, Cochin Haneefa was okay. Suraj Venjaramoodu was not impressive, the others were standard.
The film happens to be a light hearted treat but more than that, it is the message the makers are trying to put across which must be appreciated. While the first half goes about with the wit and humor in the loudest way possible, it is the second half where the element of kindness unravels and there is a feel good factor flowing around. The climax was a bit of a drag but then it lands smoothly. The film will appeal to the family audience and for those who want some refreshing moments. This will be a profit grosser at the box office.
