Nikhil Advani and Karan Johar are set to take the viewer on a New York trip with a refreshingly different story. Naina Catherine Kapur’s (Preity Zinta) life is dull and grey, with not much hope of a silver lining. A family tragedy has brought this on.

Her life is spent helping her mother, balancing her half Punjabi-half Catholic household, looking after her younger brother and sister. There isn't much to look forward to for her. Though just 23-years-old, she is more like a fifty-year-old. And to top it all, shortage of money poses a major problem.

Enter, Aman Mathur (Shahrukh Khan) into her life. And, like a whiff of fresh air, he brings in a new atmosphere in their little Indian neighbourhood and helps solve everyone’s problems. He also interferes in Preity's life too, much to her initial irritation. He encourages Naina to do things she had never dreamt of doing till she learns to smile. He pushes another young guy, Rohit (Saif Ali Khan) to help her find happiness till life takes a totally different hue for the young girl.

Kal Ho Na Ho is the journey of Aman, Naina and Rohit. Together, they discover themselves and find the courage to celebrate life. Karan Johar’s story promises to be refreshing. Johar has written the story and screenplay for the film. Nikhil Advani’s directorial venture has the talented Shankar-Ehsan-Loy trio composing music to Javed Akhtar’s poetry. Produced under the banner of Dharma Productions, Kal Ho Na Ho is already been touted as a much-awaited film.
