A young and frothy story for the generation next is the right way to describe ‘Khushi’. The film begins with Karan (Fardeen Khan) and Khushi (Kareena Kapoor) and their story. they love each other but due to their ego hassles they never express their feelings. Karan belongs from Calcutta and Khushi is from a village in Gadhwal, UP. Karan is ambitious to go to Canada for further studies but due to an accident he gets held up. Khushi's father (Amrish Puri) thinks that his daughter is enough educated and it is the right time to search a groom for her who is also willing to be a ghar jamai. But he lets her go when she insists that she wants to pursue her studies. They meet when they go to pursue their education in Mumbai University through common friends. Their friends love each other and it is now upon them to bring them closer. And trying to do so, they fall in love with each other. But their egos never let them express their love and they understand what a terrible mistake they have committed when its time for the farewell.  What happens next?
