Mansi Devi (Jaya Bachchan) and her daughter Aisha (Esha Deol) are closely knit and share their hopes, dreams, laughter and tears. But that is not all; the two also share a terrifying secret. Enter, Aman Puri (Aftab Shivdasani), a National Institute of Fashion Technology student, who has horde of friends, but no girl friend. Girls vouch for the guy, for he is good-looking, rich, popular, tops his class, does not flirt, does not drink, and does not smoke. All in all, he is the kind of guy a girl can take home to show her parents. Life is in fact a smooth, happy sail for Aman. But things take a tumble when he sees Aisha Singh, a fresher in the college. It's love at first sight for Aman and everything should be hunky-dory except for the fact that Aisha refuses to even look in his direction, leave alone reciprocate his feelings. Since this is the first time that a girl has drawn the attention of our hero, Papa (Anupam Kher) jumps into the fray.

The young lady refuses to acknowledge Aman’s sincere and pure advances though Manasi Devi is all in it and expresses her acknowledgement of Aman's ardor. Being encouraged by Manasi Devi’s reaction, Aman drops in at her home and, this time he proposes marriage. Aisha scorns him and, later, sobs her reason out in her mother's comforting arms. Welcome, a flashback that exposes the terrifying secret that these ladies share.

Aisha is seen as a stunning Rajasthani bride, on her wedding night. But the night turns a nightmare as she discovers husband Dushyant (Sanjay Kapoor) is more interested in terrorizing her and capturing her on his camera sans clothes. Aisha refuses to comply and smashes his camera. The next day, while on a hunting expedition with his wife and a foreign couple, Dushyant trains his camera on her again. This time, he wants to capture her being raped by his foreigner friend. Aisha fights back, kicking the friend and smashing a burning petroleum lamp on Dushyant's head. The tent, with Dushyant in it, catches fire. Aisha escape, narrates the sordid tale to her mother-in-law. Manasi Devi, decides to make amends by making Aisha her daughter, the two leave Rajasthan and begin a new life.

Back to present, Manasi Devi convinces Aisha to accept Aman. Aisha sees a fresh life ahead for herself, but then the terror strikes again. On the day of her engagement to Aman, the terror returns. Dushyant makes an entry at the engagement ceremony. He is alive and kicking, and he is back to terrorize Aisha and Manasi Devi. What happens next!
