Continuity jerks, predicatable story and a rolly - Polly hero as a 21 year old lover makes Karobaar a laugh riot that it never really was meknt to be.
Once again a Hollywood blockbuster is taken as an inspiration (Indecent Proposal), but inspiration Palls short but at the story telling itself. In trying to make a film based on man woman relationship of an alien culture and further trying to tell the story in an Indianised way keeping the very Indian ethics in mind makes for a sticky mess which becomes difficult to gulp, least to digest.
Secondly the film took its sweet time to complete, hence you are left with 'continuity jerks' which are more like 'jolts'. Hence you are forced by the maker to accept a Rolly-Polly hero displaying the antics as a 21-year-old, singing love songs, Rishi Kappoor. Though Rishi has tried his best to live upto expectations, his age and recently gained weight defy his objectives to the extend, that the once dancing hero looks like a clown. Similarly Juhi Chawla fails to look her expected age, however she exudes the glamour.
Anil Kapoor, under the same circumstances ( time and concept ) comes up trumps. In fact, he has handled a difficult role with sensitivity.
Directorally, Rakesh Roshan was saddled with three factors that he never could have control over, time, time and time. The film took too long for the making, making it a making not worth making an effort to watch.
