Producer: Rakesh Roshan Director: Rakesh Roshan Music: Rajesh Roshan Cast: Hrithik Roshan, Amisha Patel, Anupam Kher, Farida Jalal, Mohnish Behl
Most star-sons had them done it. Sanjay(Rocky), Sunny (Betab), Kumar Gaurav (Love Story), Akshay Khanna (Himalaya Putra), Bobby (Barsaat) and now Hrithik (Kaho Na...Pyaar Hai). Star father's have always seen to it that their sons get a platform to do their staff. Rakesh Roshan also did the same for Hrithik and it has gone much beyond the little that he intended to do.
Infact, Kaho Na...Pyaar Hai has become the greatest ever launch pad for a star-son and it has made history too. Hrithik Roshan, a name to a certain extent difficult to pronounce, so as to read, has suddenly become the most easy word to utter. The name has suddenly become the craze.
The film, Kaho Na...Pyaar Hai has all the ingredients that a good entertainer should have and is a perfect showcase for an artiste. No one could create a showcase so real as Rakesh Roshan has done. Each frame is rich in its content with splendor and expense unlimited, which is very visible.
Each location seems to be hand picked by the director himself. Each set looks expensive, the same goes for the dresses.
The storyline, though wafer-thin has been worked on with a good screenplay. Dialogues are apt and gives the body to the otherwise thin story. Musically, brother Rajesh Roshan has done one of the best compositions ever though one may find similar tunes to the past hit of Rakesh Roshan, namely 'Aap Ke Deewane', yet a fresh treatment gives it, fresher and more acceptable sounds.
No other star material is added in the package to divert attention from the 'star subject'. Amisha Patel, the leading lady in the film has been given a good footage as per the story, but on the screen it is always the 'starson' who is highlighted. Anupam Kher who could have drawn attention has been given a negative character and thus his threat put to rest.
So how does Hrithik.....? Well the answer obviously is good. For if you are left to do nothing but look at the antics of a single artiste, psychologically you stand a chance to be influenced by the character and thus by the artiste, so is the case in Kaho Na...Pyaar Hai. You are put up with a face that incidentally also happens to be good and it grows on you for the two and odd hours.
Beyond that, the two characters that Hrithik has played surely needed to be different and Hrithik has presented them differently beyond disguise or getups, and this surely proves that the lad has all that it takes to be an actor. In the looks department, he sure has very western looks but can carry himself very comfortably. As far the dancing part, Hrithik sure is one person who is going to redefine the word dancing-jack, if Shammi was for 60's, Jeetendra for 70's, Rishi for 80's and Govinda for 90's Hrithik is for the present.
The film is but a launching pad and an entertaining one at that. Kaho Na...Pyaar Hai, is surely a chapter that all star father's, producers and directors should take a lesson from in presenting 'performance platform' for their brats.
