Yaavarum Nalam is a story about the sudden events in the lives of Manohar (Madhavan), after he and his brother buy a large flat. As Madhavan wife Priya in both versions is Neetu Chandra. Like any family, the women in this household are TV soap fanatics, and their latest obsession is a serial called Yavarum Nalam.
Manohar, a civil engineer by profession who is very happy to have moved to new houses and a lot of good things to happen in the family. His brother gets promoted, his sister pass her college exams, his wife is pregnant. Manohar experiences mysterious happenings in his home and in the elevator and in a few other situations. But he is also surrounded by some strange happenings, and an unknown fear ... a fear that changes in their lives.
The thriller-horror genre in Indian cinema has not been exploited. The frightening danger that usually is fed to us is of poor quality with even worse history. Vikram K Kumar has tried something different with Yavarum Nalam. Premise can see for childish for some, but the treatment of the subject is very interesting.
