Comedian pair No.1 Govinda and Sanjay Dutt once again joins hands with the king of comedy David Dhawan for another comical extravaganza ‘Jodi No.1’. Himesh Reshammiyya and Anand Raj score music while Dev Kohli, Sudhakar Sharma and Pratik Joseph write lyrics. So get ready to enjoy the peppy and funny Govinda songs.

Sonu Nigam and Alka Yagnik start the proceedings with the highly energetic chunari track ‘Laal Chunariya’. The vivacious rendition of the singers gives this song a new life.

‘Teri Bindiya’ has nothing much to boast of other than the rhyming lyrics. Crooned by Abhijeet and Sunidhi it is a typical David Dhawan track. On the whole this is another time pass song from Govinda-David Dhawan jodi.

Famous Punjabi singer Hans Raj Hans comes up with a lively and energizing bhangra track ‘Ankh Lad Gayee’. A perfect fusion of bhangra and pop this song rides on the peppy bhangra beats and rhythmic western music. A nicely composed dance track it is definitely going to go well with the party going yuppie generation.

‘Meri Mehbooba’ is another characteristic Govinda-David Dhawan funny number. Sonu Nigam lends his voice over this humorous teaser track. Sonu’s vocals perfectly capture the humorous angle of the lyrics.

This song is followed by its title track. ‘Jodi No 1’ crooned by Sonu Nigam, Kumar Sanu and Alka Yagnik reflects the warmth and intensity of the Jodi No.1. Lyrics are ordinary and have no great shakes. But the enthusiastic rendition of the three seasoned singers add the needed pep and energy to this track. Even then this song does not come anywhere close to the ‘Haseena Maan Jaayegi’ title track. That one is the embodiment of zing and liveliness. 

‘Ande Ka Funda’ comes in next. This song tells us about the life and deals with some of the unanswerable questions in a funny way. Crooned by Pratik this song definitely gets in to your head fast. Music is peppy and perfectly complements the singing of Pratik Joseph Even with less orchestration this song sounds cool and trendy.

When the movie is about Jodi No.1, a song on the unbreakable No.1 friendship is a must. So here comes a song that glorifies the unusual friendship of the two lead characters. Kumar Sanu and Sonu Nigam lend their voices for both Sanjay Dutt and Govinda. ‘Mera Dostana’ has nothing great to offer. But it looks nice on the screen. The slow moving music and versatile singing of the singers give it the necessary charm to woo our hearts. Music is not harsh and it makes way for the vocals. Amid all these pop, bhangra and rock it is nice to hear a simple and sweet song on friendship.

The album ends with a bhangra pop ‘Mast Mast’. Sonu Nigam and Sunidhi Chauhan hold the mike for this youthful and vibrant Punjabi dance number. There is nothing new about the music. A usual westernized bhangra, it may cater to the tastes of the young and fun loving music buffs.
 
Overall, this album like all other David Dhawan albums sound simple and enjoyable. Unfortunately there are no incredible musical scores in this album. But all the songs are enjoyable, especially the Pratik Joseph song ‘Ande Ka Fanda’. It is a nice buy for all those Govinda fans. For others it may not be that tempting. So check it out and decide.
