Audio Review : Janaasheen - An impressive piece of music

Producer: Feroz Khan
Director: Feroz Khan
Cast: Feroz Khan, Fardeen Khan, Celina Jaitley
Music: Anand Raj Anand, Channi Singh, Mrinal Sampat, Sukhwinder Singh
Singers:  Babul Supriyo, Gauri Bapat, Jaspinder Narula, Sonu Nigam,  Sunidhi Chauhan, Sukhwinder Singh, Adnan Sami

‘Janaasheen’ is a home production by the mighty Khans. ‘Qurbani’ fame Feroz Khan produces and directs this movie. Fardeen Khan and newcomer Celina Jaitley play the lead. Anand Raj Anand, Channi Singh, Mrinal Sampat and Sukhwinder Singh compose music while Praveen Bharadwaj, Dev Kohli, Nasir Kazmi and Ijaaz Ahmad Ijaaz write the lyrics.

Alka Yagnik and Sonu Nigam kick start the album with the song  ‘Dil Deewana’. Anand Raj Anand is the composer. This is a nice romantic track with violin playing a major part in the background musical arrangements. Lyrics by Praveen Bharadwaj pull this one down. But the hearty rendition of Alka and Sonu along with a nice, haunting piece of music lifts it up.

Next song brings in to fore a new and mellower Biddu. His music deviates from his usual style. Instead of noisy musical arrangement, keyboard and chorus plays a major part in this song. This bhangra track is a nice mix of energy and youthfulness. Sonu Nigam, Gauri Bapat and Jaspinder Nerula lend their voice to this song.

‘Ishq Fitrat Hai’ written by Dev Kohli impresses you with its sheer poetic beauty. But Anand Raj Anand falters in the musical department.  Even then this song inspired by the Eastern symphony makes a mark in the heart of the listeners.

‘Ab Ke Baar Poonam’ is a soft and sweet track in the voice of Babul Supriyo and Gauri Bapat. New comers Channi Singh and Mrinal Sampat compose this ghazal track. Nasir Kazmi’s lyrics enhance the romantic feel of the song. With only Daphli and Dilruba in the background, vocals get predominance over music. Overall it is a nice and haunting track.

Next musical attempt by Channi and Mrinal do not yield the expected result. Their music falters in both ‘Ankhon’ and ‘Dil Ne’. Sukhwinder croons the first one while Gauri Bapat sings the next one.

Subsequent track ‘Marhaba’ brings forward a new music director, the singer Sukhwinder Singh. Sukhwinder and Muskan impress with their high- pitched rendition. The well –organized chorus does its job well and improves the quality of the song.

This album ends with the voice of Adnan Sami. He teams up with Sunidhi Chauhan for the song ‘Nashe Nashe Mein’. Adnan impresses with his romantic vocals. On the whole this is an enjoyable piece of music.

To sum up, the music of ‘Janaasheen’ is its plus point. Unlike the other Feroz Khan productions this one boasts of melodious and good quality musical compositions based on Arabian music. On the whole a nice album worth spending your penny.
