Musically this year has seen lot of ups and downs. On one hand you have movies like ‘Devdas’ and ‘Saathiya’ which offers a nice musical treat, and on the other hand movies like ‘Inth Ka Jawab Pathar’ and ‘Jaal- The Trap’ suffocates you with its uncanny musical numbers. Directed by Guddu Dhanoa this movie star Sunny Deol, Tabu, Reema Sen and Jackie Shroeff. Anand Raj Anand scores music while Sameer writes.
With Anand Raj Anand in the music arranger’s chair you may expect a lot from this album. But the first song itself prevents you from aspiring for anything great. ‘Indian Sher Dil’ is supposed to be a patriotic track. But it fails to excite you anyway. As the composer realizes his mistake he himself comes behind the mike and tries to pull this song through. Unfortunately even his efforts yield no positive result.
‘Jo Pyaar Tumne’ is in the voice of Chitra and KK. Picturised on the snowy peaks of Alps this may look like a scene from Maniratnam’s ‘Roja’. But Anand Raj Anand’s music comes nowhere close to the A.R.Rehman number ‘Yeh Hasin Wadiyan’.
The same can be said about the next romantic track too. ‘Humsafar Ke Liye’ has Alka behind the mike. But once again Anand Raj Anand fails to create something fresh from the stale, old lyrics of Sameer. The most horrific part of this song is Tabu’s screaming. There is no doubt about her acting prowess, but by lending her voice like this she may scare her fans down.
Kumar Sanu is in a pensive mood here. He is recounting his first love experience as he sleepwalks through this average love song ‘Pehla Pehla Pyaar’. Lyrics are ok. So is the music. Other than this there is nothing more to this song.
After a long wait Udit Narayan gets a chance to exercise his vocal chords. He teams up with debutant Saswati Phukan for a romantic duet ‘Ek Ladki Bas’. This is a soft melodious song. Yet it lacks the power to impress.
Sunny Deol in the lead and no bhangra, how can it be possible? So to fulfill the demands of Sunny fans Anand Raj Anand comes up with a bhangra track in the end. Udit Narayan sings this energetic track ‘Sona Sona Soniye’ in his usual vibrant style. But yet, it adds to the list of unimpressive numbers.
In nutshell, this album lacks the strength and drive to impress the music lovers. It is completely a come and go collection.
