Here are the Excerpts:
To begin with, how do you rate Aishwarya Rai’s performance in Jodha-Akbar?
I’ve been more often than not caught using the world ‘ethereal’ to refer to anything that is extraordinary. This time too I’d love to tilt back to my favorite word for dearth of right expression. I think Aishwarya was ‘ethereal’ in the film.
It’s been almost a year since Aishwarya has joined your family. How do you rate her as a daughter-in-law?
Aishwarya has rightly found for herself a big place not only in the family but in our hearts as well. We call her ‘bahurani’. I think that’s the perfect and the most endearing expression to let you know how dear she is to us.
You are all set to erect a school in Uttar Pradesh in Aishwarya’s name. How far is your involvement with the project?
A year back, we had promised the people that a school would be erected in the region. Keeping that in mind, we laid the foundation stone for the school. The construction is likely to start soon. I’m involved with the finance part of the project and will also be one of the trustees of the school.
You are all set to go on a world tour accompanied by Abhishek and Aishwarya. How’s the feeling?
Yes, the preparations are on and we are likely to leave by July or at best by August. We are planning a tour over America and Europe. It’s not that I haven’t danced with Abhishek and Aishwarya before. But yes, the excitement is there since we all will share the podium once again together.
Of late, a lot of things had been written said and done to you. How do you react to that?
All the speculations and controversies are media made. That’s why I don’t allow such stories to sway my life in any way.
Recently you were also being held for being more biased to Uttar Pradesh than Maharashtra. What’s your say on this?
India is a free state where every citizen has the liberty to live and say. No one is above the law or constitution. I abide by that. I really do not feel the need to pass attention to such wayward comments.
